.DON'T DO IT. Please believe me.The mic is MUDDY MUFFELED to tha tee.Your voice (to people on the other end) is muffled bass no highs at all.The size is very likable but as for the performance,,under water muffled.Invest in a good mic (with better frequency on the high EQ) if you are gonna make calls from your CPU.
I love these headphones and their non-mic'ed little brothers. The mic/headphone is small and simple enough to put in a briefcase and keep there until needed. The quality can be increased by raising the mic to your mouth. (Which is why I stopped using the headphone only version of these). All while not getting tangled (and therefore broken cords) and taking up a minimum amount of space. If you are the type that demands $100 headphones or a studio quality mic, these are not for you. To "fix" this, peel off the manufacture's label, and remove the small Philips head screw that holds everything together. And admittedly I would not use these for important client interviews. On the road they provide both good headphone ability and pass-able microphone recording ability. The in-ear headphones provide good isolation from outside noise (e.g., airport, kids, etc).As with all retractable headphones/cables, eventually the retractable portion will break (happens much faster for the headphone-only versions that got used every day) and the cables will just snap back into the coil.
But, if I am traveling for a day or two and need to use VoIP, or talk to someone who can handle a lower quality mic (e.g., co-workers, family, friends, etc). they work very well. The problem usually is that the ball bearing jumps out of the plastic track it rides in because the edges of the plastic track wears down. Throw away all the parts related to the spring (you'll never get that back together anyhow) and keep the now un-retractable cable/headphones/mic.
It better be a laptop sitting on your lap. The headset works like described, no technical problem at all. Just the cable is very short: So you better sit very close to your computer when you want to use it. Or you have a long neck. Where is the big deal to make a cable a decent lenght.
For the purpose that it buys this headset was good because it is of small size and it does not occupy much space in my briefcase; nevertheless I do not recommend if it you want good quality in the sound, it is really very poor sound.
